Healthy Living and the Childhood Wellness Program

Greetings! I applaud you all for your healthy living and your support of the Zion Health Principles of Membership outlined in our Member Guidelines. Current medical research confirms that our health is positively affected by the number of steps we take every day. For example, one study recently showed that older women who walked between 4400 and 7500 steps per day were much more likely to live longer than those who walked fewer steps. What does that mean?

For all of us, activity improves our overall health, is beneficial in maintaining a healthier weight, and generally makes us happier. Zion Health is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, which is a major reason why our monthly contributions are among the lowest in the industry and have not been raised over our three years of serving you. Our dedication to health and wellness is reflected in our employee wellness program (already I am losing weight and feeling more energetic!) as well as in additional cost sharing to you for preventive services.

As you may know, Zion Health has recently expanded our annual provider visits to include those to any licensed medical provider. We have also shortened the waiting period for screening colonoscopies, mammograms, and youth immunizations from one year to six months.

Now we are pleased to introduce our Childhood Wellness program. Well child visits and their associated immunizations are shareable with the Zion Health community, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Zion Health will share in up to six (6) well child visits before the age of 12 months, three (3) between twelve months and of 24 months, and two (2) between 24 months and 36 months. Yearly visits after can be shared as the annual provider visit. Included in this sharing are the CDC recommended immunizations for each age group and the administration costs. Please refer to our Preventive Sharing Guide for more details on this exciting new program. For those of you who participate in Direct Primary Care memberships as well as other wellness programs, we encourage you to continue to take advantage of the great care already offered through those practices.

We are committed to serving you, our Zion Health community. Thank you for your service to all our members across the country. Please reach out to us for any questions. In the meantime,

Stay healthy, stay happy, and keep smiling.
